Body Calibration
Recommandation
To use human avatars in Skyreal and calibrate their size and movement to match the user's, you can launch the 'fast calibration' option, which will automatically detect tracker positions and user size. This option can be found inside the "Edit Myself" command.
For an optimized tracking, we recommend :
- the installation of at least 3 tracking cameras in a dedicated space for the body tracking or tracked objects manipulation.
- for a correct feet tracking, one cameras should be placed floor level.
- if you are using Vive trackers, don't forget to make sure that each tracker that you are using has has been assigned a Tracker Role in the Steam VR "manage trackers" otpions.
- make sure that you're using a metahuman avatar
Callibration Flow
The fast body calibration button launches the calibration wizard, where the user would see a new screen that appears in front of him.
The fast calibration is carried out in two steps:
- Step 1: The user is asked to rectify his size. When launching the fast calibration, a size should have been automatically detected based on the height of the user headset. However, for better accuracy, the user can rectify it by clicking the up and down arrow buttons. He can also relaunch the automatic size detection by clicking "Autofill Height" to get a closer result, and then edit his size. Once the size indicated on screen matches the user's size, he can click "next step" to validate button and move on to the next step.

- Step 2 : The next screen would ask the user to put itself in a "T-pose" and click any trigger button to validate tracker's position and automatically calculate the body tracking.

Once the user press any trigger button from the controllers, the wizard will show a validated action -in green- and the user can confirm calibration by pressing the Confirm button, or start over with the Restart button.

Manikin interpolation
Once you have completed body calibration, you can select any manikin as your avatar.
With Fast Calibration, the manikin automatically adjusts to your height-so no matter which manikin you choose, it will always match your size.
You cannot manually change a manikin's size in Edit Myself; calibration ensures the avatar adapts to your body instead.
- Arm reach is automatically matched to yours, although you can still adjust it manually if needed.
- For best results, select a manikin that is already close to your real size.
The manikin's accuracy also depends on the number of trackers linked to your body.
